Project Team Visits Washington County

A number of weeks ago the project team made a trip to Washington County at the invitation of the Sunrise County Economic Council. Not only did we meet with the council itself, but we also held two public meetings one in Eastport, the other in Calais. All three meetings were fantastic with great attendance as well as great questions from the public. One of the highlights of the day came in Calais, where we were presented with a letter of support
from the City of Calais, Town of St. Stephen, NB, and the Town of Baileyville.
It was a fantastic way to end to our trip Downeast. One of the great parts of this project is watching citizens and their communities coming together. Not just in support of the East West Corridor as a concept, but in support of seeking out opportunities that can benefit the citizens, businesses, and communities of the State of Maine.
I would like to thank the folks we met in Washington County for the warm welcome we received. It was a wonderful set of meetings and I have no doubt we’ll be back in Washington County in the near future!
